The Presidential Conditional Grant Program and the Presidential Palliative Loan Program are the two new initiatives being introduced by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment is in charge of both initiatives.

The initiatives, according to Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Dr. Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, are meant to lessen the effects of eliminating fuel subsidies.

Nanobusinesses will receive a grant of ₦50,000, while MSMEs and manufacturers will be able to borrow up to ₦1 million and ₦1 billion, respectively.

The intended recipients are split up as follows: 10% go to people with disabilities, 5% go to senior citizens, 15% go to other demographics, and 70% go to women and youth.

Who Can Apply?

Businesses that fall into the six categories below can apply.

  1. Traders
    2. Food services
    3. ICT
    4. Transportation
    5. Creatives (makeup artists, fashion designers, and dry cleaners.)
    6. Artisans (vulcanizers, shoemakers, painters, repairers).

Grant Eligibility Criteria

  1. Own a modest business of your own.
  2. Manage a business to grow it and with the expectation of steady economic growth.
  3. Be ready to bring on at least one additional employee if employee turnover increases.
  4. Be prepared to attest that you are a resident of or operate out of a local government area.
  5. Provide crucial information about your bank accounts and identity, including Bank Verification (BVN) for identity verification.
