Lautaro scores, Sommer saves a penalty: Inter are back in the lead
At the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Inter painfully beat Fiorentina 1-0 in today’s last match valid for the twenty-second matchday of Serie A.
The match opens immediately with a thrill for the Nerazzurri: Sommer’s wrong pass to Pavard, Bonaventura serves Nzola who has his shot blocked by the league leaders’ goalkeeper but is in an irregular position. In the 9th minute Quarta gives the ball to Lautaro who flies towards the goal but Terracciano saves his shot.
In the 11th minute Nzola was offside again and this time the Angolan had scored. In the 14th minute Thuram from the right for Carlos Augusto who had his shot blocked by Faraoni. At 15′ Inter took the lead: Asllani’s corner which Lautaro headed home at the near post. There is a check at the VAR for an alleged irregularity by Toro but in the end the goal is validated.
In the 33rd minute Terracciano blocks a shot from Frattesi served by Thuram, a minute later Sommer miraculously saves a shot from Bonaventura found by a Faraoni cross. In injury time in the first half, Nzola, again, shoots Potenza’s diagonal shot but Bastoni deflects it for a corner.
Recovery. In the 69th minute Nzola, who else, can serve Bonaventura alone and instead shoots directly towards goal but Pavard blocks it. In the 73rd minute Sommer lands an avalanche on Nzola, then Quarta hits a header and Darmian saves on the line. After the VAR check Aureliano awards Fiorentina the penalty for Sommer’s challenge on Nzola but Nico Gonzalez has it saved by the Swiss goalkeeper.
Nothing to do for Fiorentina in the last quarter of an hour and in injury time, Inter returns to the top of the table and heads into the direct clash with Juventus with a point advantage and a game in hand.
